“The men of the 100 offer an ongoing example of the demystification of educated, empowered, nurturing, family men, involved in a range of social services, civic engagement, and community functions.
Each department represents the range and plight of black America, fighting to be witnessed and accepted as whole people in systems that weren’t built for men or communities of color to thrive in.
The 100 is silently working in “inner city” schools, college campuses, boardrooms, canned food drives in impoverished neighborhoods, predominately white institutions, and whole, loving households.
The 100 is everywhere that black, brown, and marginalized communities of color need them to be and succeed, which is why I volunteer to be every where the 100 ask me to be, within my means .”

“Everything great in my life is a direct result of some form of positive mentoring. One small conversation, one day of help with a project or homework, showing up for a major event, being a listening ear, offering a piece of advice, or sharing your personal experiences has the power to change the course of direction in someone's life. When you genuinely mentor from a space of love and appreciation, it just feels like you're doing God's work.”

“As a mentee of the 100 Black Men of Long Beach, my passions have been consistently nourished, and my mindset, consistently renewed with confidence and optimism. The 100 Black Men of Long Beach has recently inspired me, as a graduate of their African American Male Literacy Academy, to write and publish my own book of poems and to teach the youth how to write Psychology-based superheroes at their last Literacy Academy. As I prepare for college, I am more than confident that I will be successful because of the work of the 100 Black Men of Long Beach.”
